But the term still confuses people. Is it a template? A questionnaire and a PDF? Something less serious than “real” interior design? Not the way we practise it. So let’s be precise about what e-design is, how it works, and whether it’s right for you.

What e-design actually means

E-design — short for electronic design, also called virtual or online interior design — is a complete interior design service delivered remotely. Instead of site visits and in-person meetings, the work happens through photographs, measurements, video calls, and email. You share your space; we study it, design it, and hand you everything you need to bring it to life.

What it is not is a shortcut. The thinking is the same as in any serious project: we listen, we study the light, we choose materials with care, we resolve proportion before decoration. The difference is logistical, not creative. The design is still earned, never merely decorated.

The demand is real and growing fast: the global e-design market is expanding at over 20% a year, and “what is e-design” has gone from a niche question to a mainstream one.

How it works at Casaforma, step by step

1. The brief. You tell us about the space: how you live in it, what frustrates you, what you dream it could become. We send a short, guided questionnaire so nothing important is missed.

2. Photos and measurements. You send photographs and a floor plan (even a hand sketch with dimensions works). We tell you exactly what to capture.

3. Concept and layout. We translate your brief into a spatial concept: how the room should be organised, where the light should fall, what the space wants to become.

4. Material moodboard. Colours, textures, finishes — chosen and composed so you can feel the atmosphere before a single decision is final.

5. Photorealistic 3D render. You see your future room before it exists — light, materials, and mood captured with precision.

6. Curated shopping list. Every piece, sourced and listed, so you know exactly what to buy and where.
